La FAA restablece operaciones normales en 40 aeropuertos tras el cierre del Gobierno.
La Administración Federal de Aviación (FAA) de Estados Unidos anunció el levantamiento total de las limitaciones o restricciones de vuelos que imponía en 40 aeropuertos nacionales, una medida que estuvo vigente durante el cierre gubernamental más largo de la historia de ese país.
La restricción, que se había puesto en marcha el 7 de noviembre, escaló progresivamente hasta afectar entre un 4% y 6% de las operaciones aéreas en Estados Unidos. La decisión se produjo debido a la escasez de personal en el área de control aéreo que se ausentaron de sus puestos de trabajo ante la falta de sueldos por el cierre del gobierno estadounidense.
Según el comunicado conjunto del secretario de Transporte, Sean P. Duffy, y el administrador de la FAA, Bryan Bedford, el alza en el número de controladores disponibles y la mejora en la situación de personal justificaron la decisión de retirar las restricciones por lo que las ooperaciones aéreas vuelven a la normalidad.
La orden se levantó este lunes a las 6:00 a.m. (hora del este). La agencia EFE reportó que de las casi 3.000 cancelaciones diarias registradas por el sitio de rastreo FlightAware en el pico de los recortes, en la mañana de este lunes se contabilizan apenas 32, junto a unas 540 demoras, una notable diferencia frente a las más de 9.000 reportadas en un solo día durante las restricciones.
